In Bangladesh, the month February is observed as The Month of Language or in Bengali ভাষার মাস.
This month have a vast significant in the national history. In 1952 the most significant movement for language happened on February 21.
February is the month of mourning. Yet, it is a matter of dignity for the nation as only the Bengalese have sacrificed lives for establishing Bangla as the state language.
The Language Day - February 21 - is also recognized as the International Mother Language Day.
Besides, Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2021 will begin from March 18 and continue till April 14 maintaining health safety guidelines instead of the month of February due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision to defer the book fair was extended at a recent meeting of the fair organizing committee. Bangla Academy Secretary AHM Lokman said that the fair will begin from March 18 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to open the fair likely to be either virtually or in person.
